Indian War Game

This Indian war game is based on the Nez Perce War of 1877. The Nez Perce was a native American Indian tribe who lived in the Pacific north-west region of America. As the Americans pushed west the Nez Perce splintered with one group accepting American expansion and agreeing to relocation to a reservation in Idaho whilst the other group of 2900 men women and children fled north in an attempt to reach the lands of Chief Sitting Bull in Canada. They were pursued by 2000 American soldiers across four states over a distance of some 1170 miles. Thousands died in the conflict and just 40 miles from the Canadian border the Nez Perce were forced to surrender on 5th October 1877. They were sent to Kansas to live in a malaria infested swamp area before being allowed to move to back to the Pacific north-west in 1885. This Indian War game is based on that conflict.
